Hello everyone,

the sound tubes (silicon or vinyl tubes thats connected to BA) in custom in-ear monitors will eventually accumulate wax the longer its in your ear. Fortunately, companies provide you with an awkward looking "cleaning tool" thats meant to remedy this problem. Unfortunately its as effective congress. It takes a long time to pull out a fraction of "gunk" from the sound tube and the ones with a brush attachment could potentially push the stuff deeper into the tube, which makes it nearly impossible to clean out. Fortunately, I've figured out a way while I was trying to clean my IEM at work.

1.) Take a coffee stirrer/straw
2.) Cut one end at a very steep angle.

The final product will somewhat look like a boba straw that a Smirf would use, but much much sharper. The cut off portion will act like a scoop, which will allow you to "scoop" out your earwax from your IEM. At the same time, that cut off portion will make your DIY tool flexible. This will allow you to reach around the bends in your sound tube.

With this tool, you're essentially scooping out the gunk from the sound tube. I recommend that you point your soundtube to the ground because the earwax could get loose and you dont want it collecting on the sound filter.

BECAREFUL not to push your tool in too far that it'll push the filter in. Depending on wear you purchase your custom IEM (UE, JH, UM, etc. I don't think this really applies to InEarz so much because I doubt they tune the remolds. Plus, from what I've seen, they put the filters at the very end of the sound tube that you could use toothpick to clean it) , your custom IEM is tuned to match the shape of your ear and where the BA is positioned. This is coming from a former Ultimate Ears intern.

hope this helps
