I suggest everyone stay away from this deal, unless you want your credit card information stolen, and it's a beats.

I've ordered from them, but always used paypal as my method of payment....never had a problem this way, but I've never used a credit card with them, so can't comment on the CC possible problem.

You posted deals from Rakuten a few times and dismissed the credit card fraud as a non issue because you haven't had any problems. But the fact that there are 8 or more police investigations (not including investigations from credit card companies and the better business bureau) and hundreds for report of fraud from various forums and almost every deals website has banned Rakuten deal post should be enough of a red flag to stay away from that website.

But hey if you want to risk it, than good for you.

Seems like enough reason alone to avoid rakuten

Thanks for the updates about Ratuken, guys! The deal thread only makes sense if it doesn't lead to being scammed!

I was at the sony factory outlet store north of seattle, and found out they are closing shop.  There's absolutely nothing good left there  (only some covers for keyboard/table and proprietary laptop battery left).  But the clerk said something about other sony factory stores may be closing too.
If you are close to any other outlets, may be you should check if they got anything good left.

This thread is going to be the death of my wallet.  Just found the PortaPros for $7.99 at my local Sears.  They were marked $49.99 and on a table that said 50% off.  I asked the sales associate what the final price would be, he said, without checking "50% off".  I wandered around to see if there was signage anywhere else, didn't find any, and approached him again

Me:  "Soooo, these are $25ish?"
Him:  "Hand me one, let's check...  $8.61 out the door."
Me:  "I'll take both pair"

Bummer. I'm here at my local Sears (Newpark Mall, Fremont CA) and they got one PortaPros. Unfortunately, it's full price $50. I asked a store associate about the deals others were getting and why this one was not on sale. He says "the only way they will be on clearance is if they're open box".
So that's that...

I thought about that, but the boxes don't have an actual seal on it.  The box just folds into itself, no stickers or anything.  I opened one of them carefully and you can tell they have never been out of the box.  Everything is still perfectly situated as it should be.

Also, there was no stock anywhere else that would indicate that these were special items (open box / customer return / etc...)  They were the only Porta Pros in the store.

Has anyone, by chance, checked KMart for the portas? Just curious as they are under the same umbrella. Online price shows $50 for sears and $30 for Kmart. KMart happens to be closer than Sears for me I just haven't been able to make it.
