iPod camera connection kit to external DAC/AMP?

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the USB connection presented from an iPod using the Camera Connection Kit to connect the iPod to a USB DAC (like the iBasso D4) to let the external DAC work it's magic, and basically use the iPod only as a storage and control medium?

This would be an awesome alternative to using a LOD device since the D4 has a way better DAC than any of the current iPods, and I'm trying to avoid having to pay out for a WhipMod/iMod.

I saw a post stating that this was possible with the iPad, but I'd like to verify for the iPhone/iPod before I go spending money on the camera connection kit and cables.

I need to learn to search before I post. I just found another long thread on this topic. Sorry for the dupes!

Yeah - I was gathering that from the other thread. I have an iPad already which is nice, but it's not as portable as an iPod/iPhone. It might make for a nice audio setup in the office, but I'm certainly not carrying the iPad and an amp on the bus, with cables snaking everywhere. I hope this comes to the iPod Touch or Nano in a future release.
