Hi I am looking to replace my old Sony MDR-V300's (which I loved) with a new pair of headphones for under $120.00. I have a Futureshop, Visions, and a Best Buy in town so I can only go for brands that they sell. They sell Sony, Skullcandy, JVC, Shure, JBL, Monster, Acoustic Research, Pioneer, Philips, Sennheiser, and Bose. I listen to all kinds of music and enjoy clarity above all else. I really do not like the huge headphones or the in ear ones and they have to be durable. What pair of headphones should I get?

Also will it matter what bit rate my music is in with headphones under $120? About half of my songs are 128 with the rest being 192.

Thanks.

Did you check out the thread I linked you to in the other Sub Forum?

You mentioned you don't big headphones -- so most of the headphone in that link would be perfect siz .

I would check B-Buy for Sennheiser 'phones. The HD 238 is great when they had it, also the Koss PortaPro is a steal at $30... I prefer these two to most any closed back headphone I have heard at B-Buy. If you are used to closed back 'phones (ones with plastic housing behind the driver) the two above are open, and sound much clearer, and larger than most physically larger closed headphones. It's like the music being outside all around you (open), vs echoing in a cave all around you (closed)

Oh, I'm sorry. I did not see that you were limited to just the headphones at those shops.

Although, the thread can still be helpful -- as many of those headphones can be found in shops.

Other than that, the PortaPro would do you well. Sennheiser would be a good option as well.
