So, I have $100 free at amazon to spend soon. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get an mp3 player. That will improve my commute immensely.

I'm thinking about a karma or ipod, but I'm not sure that I want to lay out the bucks. I also really want to get something good for working out and something with a radio (why oh why won't someone include am?).

Amazon doesn't carry the 300 series, which is a shame, because then I could just get that, encode to ogg and be done with it.

The fl100 isn't a mass storage device, but it does have a SD slot. The 256 version would be $80 after using my credit.

The iriver has more of a track record in positive reviews here, plus mass storage abilities. I could get the 256 version for $50 after using my credit.

Advice? Anything else I should consider? The amazon limitation is annoying, but it makes this possible.

Maybe I should build my lossless file server before moving into portable mp3s....I hate to think of ripping everything twice.

I've read that the soundquality of the iriver is much better. Haven't heard both myself, but these were non-audiophiles who complained and since the iriver sound pretty good (own it) it makes me wonder if the fl100 is really a lot worse.
