Everywhere.....give me the real sound

I never tried 1R before. I got tempted by its style at first...but until my friend told me the sound is muddy and not clear enought. Yes the bass is hitting harder compared to z1000 in term of consumer oriented sound. But for the sound quality...z1000 is way better than 1R.

I didn't think the sound was muddy but then again I didn't have my z1000 for comparison... does your friend own the z1000 or the 1R?

He does not have z1000. If i can recall..that time i asked him to compare it with one of his can that i also has and that is hd650. To me hd650 eventhough it has a dark sound but still very good detail expect the mids for me is just a bit kind of veiled. So he told me based on his comparison that 1R is worse than that (maybe he got different taste i am not sure). And z1000 imo the clarity and detail still above the hd650 smily_headphones1.gif

You guys need to get the MDR-7520. It's the Z1000 + more bass, and even a tiny bit more sub-bass. evil_smiley.gif

Also the 1R isn't bad. It has plenty of bass response and is smooth in general with similarly nice mids/vocals, BUT it's not as resolving. The resolution isn't up to par as the Z1000. Although the LCP diaphram keeps everything sounding "clear." it's just not a very resolving can. But it is more resolving than something like the Momentum.

The 650s are amazing, but they're much more grainier than the Z1000. You can tell it's just plain old regular mylar diaphram, But the tonal balance is magical and those lush mids are to die for.

oh, you guys, making me wish that I'd had kept the suckers.

The PRaT is better than the Z1000 because of the increased bass, but it's still not all that great. I think the DT1350s and LCD-2 are much faster. I think the 7520 does much better with medium paced music.

Thanks buddy ^^

been reading about mdr7520....that make me want to switch my z1000 to it. I like my z1000 so much. But looks like mdr7520 performs better? I do not mind adding more bass to z1000, but i want the mids and the highs stay the same. If mdr7520 can do that...i will hunt for it.

That was my concern as well, since I loved the Z1000 mids. What I can tell you is that you won't lose anything, the sweet mids are still there along with the smooth, yet unrecessed treble. In fact the mids are even more spacious, like there is more room for voices/instruments to breathe and have their own little space to perform. I'm completely in love with the 7520 and think Sony did an amazing job, but no seems to care or notice. redface.gif
