Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

When I had a driver break they sent an email saying to have the cable connections facing down. I felt like a moron because I always squeezed em in there with the headphone connectors facing up, but that squishes the angled pads too much.

I was provided the following image for proper packing instruction by Audeze.

Ok, now I guess I need someone to break the tie!

I went back and checked my email and he's right, I got that image as well. I'm really confused as to why I remembered wrong. I'll go back and edit my previous post.

I don't use the case anymore anyway as I got one of those beautiful Woo headphone stands, but still. I don't like putting them in the case with the pads squished like I was doing and like the picture indicates. *shrug*

Saw those earlier too. They look ridiculous and I don't see what market demands them....

That's honestly the lowest price I've ever seen.  Going rate seems to now be in the $600 to $700 range.
Yes, I've seen average for about $650.00. I should explain whole story. He listed for $585.00 shipped. The listing was LCD 2.2- non fazor. I purchased then found out it was fazor version so he offered to discount $50.00 if I just keep it. I ended up just keeping it only a day later to find out it really was a non-fazor version. I think even at $600.00 it's a really good deal. It definately was the lowest price even with the original listing price for $585.00 from what I've seen these phones go.

Lol, price just went up! Hahaha.

I'm just toying with the idea, no classified yet. The LCD-2 is a fun headphone and my first 'high end' can. Oh, the memories.

The LCD-2 has always been my 'dream' headphones, ever since i've heard about them, I knew this would probably be my endgame can. With my parents going to USA later this month and adorama giving an amazing discount on the aluminium version (699USD) decided to pull the trigger. Waiting for October 5th, fingers crossed.

Have plans to run it with my O2+Odac combo, then upgrade to a 500/600$ DAC/AMP setup later when I can manage the cash. Any suggestions/tips?

Thanks for the response!  Now that I think about it, I suppose the hard foam spacer that fits between the left and right ear piece will keep the wide part of the earpad from squishing together.

What is your favorite headphone right now? Still the LCD-X?

Nevermind, you've clearly gone a few levels past that.

Reading your Utopia review now.

Hi,

Im struggling around since 2 1/2 weeks while looking for my first High-End-Cans...
Felt in love with a LCD-3 several years ago in comparison to Sennheisers HD800 and a Stax.

Now listened again to LCD-3 I was a little disappointed because I noticed too much mids and too low treble.
(I changed my Hifi-System from "boring 3 ways" to high efficient high dynamic Full-Range speakers assisted with dipole bass)

Jumping around with some others (LCD-X, Stax, HE-560...)I have to decide between LCD-2.2F and OPPO-PM-2 now.
They sound very similar and also different to my ears, but I cannot say which is the better one - grrrr

Did you make similar experiences?

(The last three sessions I used an OPPO HA-1 amp. Is there a good match with oppo can and amp and a bad match with LCD-2? Should I try another amp?)

TIA

By all accounts, the HA-1 is a very nice amp. You should be perfectly happy with that.

I'm using the Audio-GD NFB-28 in Balanced, and it's also very clear, transparent, and detailed.

I used lcd2F with different amp and I was never sorry for me I consider it one of the best pleasant headphones with many kinds of music .. never tiring within certain limits that every headset can have ..

Well, it appears my LCD-2F's have dropped a channel. I am bummed.

Such a great headphone but my brand new 2F right out of the box had a bad left channel. The replacement is fine. Great sounding headphone for sure, but that is a bummer. Let us know how it works out for you and good luck.
