Owning, and loving, the Bamboo version, I still think the Shedua is the sexier wood. Just like my audio preference, I enjoy a darker, richer hue.

Thanks! Looks like there is a Rosewood version as well on the Audeze website

Now this makes the decision even more difficult

You left a nice comment on my review back when I published it. You flatter me. Thank you. The real pleasure is knowing I led you to buy something you're getting much joy out of.

Congratulations on the purchase. I hope they serve you well for a long time to come. I've had mine for I think a year now, and still have no desire to seek an upgrade. They are immensely capable headphones.

I couldn't agree more. People seem to forget that distortion artefacts measure so low and well into the highest end of headphones.

I guess the focus for Audeze now should be reliability.

Is this >$995< deal for "AUDEZE LCD-2 HP Planar Magnetic Headphones Shedua Wood Edition+iFi micro iDSD+Travel Case" a good one overall compare to passed ones??

I'd like to find out what these HP are like... tl;dr, so only read the last 12-15 pages & am not sure how reliable or the long term ownership would be with these cans (that whole Fazor technology thing... still somewhat confuse on that one).
If I have to send it in now & then to have this or that fixed, that's not ideal & pretty much a deal breaker.
Initially, I was going to buy the He-400i & after reading around found some suggesting getting the He-560 instead as an upgrade... then looked around for other planar HP & ended up here -)

I own the MDR-V6 for the last 20yrs & is till running like new... love its sound & don't even need any amps to run it smoothly. I'm not crazy about all these upgrading stuff... more about discovering new artist/songs & spending time listening to them =)

When the LCD-2 is on sale it goes for $699, the iDSD BL goes for $549, so it's a savings of around $250. I would say that is a good deal.

That being said... be safe... don't fall down the rabbit hole. Possibly trying out an EL-8 Open might be a nice direction for you (I felt it was better than the HE-400i myself...as I sold it off shortly after getting the EL-8).

Not a bad deal but if repairs will be an issue you might want to look at other headphones.  Also wouldn't recommend the HE-400i/560 if worried about repairs.  For $1k, you could get a HD-600/650 and a DAC + amp.  HD-600/650 have the least problems from what I've seen so far.

Come think of it, there is like zero reports of driver failures in the HD6X0 and HD800/S threads, and is a goal Audeze needs to pursue.

Although all reports have been positive with regards to the way Audeze handles warranty claims.

@JaJaJOE that's a great deal, I jumped on a similar Adorama deal (for aluminum LCD2's). I really enjoy both the headphones and the iDSD BL. Superb value and sound, both.

FWIW, I don't worry about driver failure. Best case they fail within 3 year warranty, and warranty resets upon replacement. Worst case they fail out of warranty and I spend the $~300 to get them fixed, resetting warranty again. A lot cheaper than the headphone of the month club.

I don't think it's anything to worry about, assuming you believe Audeze is here to stay. I assume they will, as mentioned above, focus on reliability and eventually get to dynamic-driver levels of reliability.

YMMV and all that, but I don't worry about it. Too much else to fret about in life.

Wait, so if the drivers fail after the 3 year warranty, and I pay 300$ for replacement, I get another 3 years warranty on them? I did not know that, and I like that information a lot. 300$ is still not a cheap replacement, but much better than being stuck with 1000$ broken headphone.

Amazon.com selling these for 400$. Does anyone know the seller is good or not? Because the seller is new.

400$ new?

Audeze's B-Stock was 499$ and that's the best price "new" I've seen. Be careful, ask for photos, serial number so you can ask Audeze for those.
