Hi guys I'm back again, just wondering if I should get a NuForce HDP amp or the ifi iCan's amp for my LCD2 I'm pretty limited on space and money as well so any recommendations below $700 is appreciated. Please feel free to dissuade me from either amp too cheers !

What about the Mjolner? I realize it's $50 over budget but still...

I don't recommend either of those for the LCD-2, especially anything NuForce. Need it to be small and under $700. Hmm...
TBI Millenia at $500 is a killer option. Just attach some resistors on the speaker terminals, and re-terminate to banana plugs and you'll be in for a real treat. You can also buy this instead of re-terminating and stuff. There's a bunch of guys in this thread doing just that with outstanding results.

My balanced cable arrived this afternoon and I've been listening to my Super LCD-2 on the Emotiva, that's right I'm calling it Super LCD-2

. Man this thing sounds ridiculously open, it has just as much upper-mid presence as the HE-500. I think I need to bring this bad boy to a meet so I can let people listen to it.

I know LCD-2 got plenty of love in the past, but man these are so great. It's a shame they're no longer FOTM. The mids are truly magical, just so damn lush and pleasant, espcially with more upper-mid energy. Just so open and lush at the same time. The one thing I noticed about this LCD-2 is that the treble has a lot more finesse. No harshness I detected with my previous LCD-2s. I'm so happy right now. Thinking about selling the HE-500 to buy the TH900, but I think I'll resist. Just save up and buy the TH900 or TH600. The journey continues...

Sell it and get the HE-6 man!

Will definitely look into this setup thanks for the help !

haha I was thinking about the Schitt Mjolinir too problem is lack of space, but is there a way where I can place it upright without damaging it like maybe a stand. I don't mind spending an extra $50 for quality but space is a problem :/

I think you would find that very awkward since you would want to have the vents at the top to exhaust heat, making the volume knob a bit of a reach. I don't know what your desk looks like, but maybe consider getting a monitor stand or wall mount?

I would think the stand would have to be pretty wide itself to support such a long amp vertically, and have some decent weight to hold it.

Yeah not to mention that's just adding extra cost. I'd def get the Millenia in regards to what he's looking for. I'll be getting one in the near future myself. It can also be battery powered (12-24v), making it the ultimate transportable amp.

Sorry if I sound like a newbie which I am, but is a DAC absolutely necessary for the Millenia, I was thinking of getting something cheapish/er for my PC and saving up for the Schitt Mjolinir and Gungnir combo for my vinyl in the future when I move and get the space
edit* I was doing some research and found the RSA Intruder DAC/Amp and was wondering if it'll do my LCD2 any justice and or if it's better than the Millenia

How were you planning on playing music from your PC without a DAC?

Yeah I just realised...... thanks for verifying .....I'm horrible with these kinds of things, usually my local dealer teaches me all this. Anyway would it be better to get a Millenia MG3 with a dedicated DAC ( and if so which DAC) or should I go for the RSA Intruder Amp/DAC ? Thanks for the reply

Depends on how much money your willing to spend.
A dedicated DAC and amp is going to cost more but will most likely sound better.

Do you already own the Millenia amp?

No I don't own the Millenia amp, I know it will sound better with a dedicated amp and dac set up but I don't have space till I move next the year, after much deliberation I decided to go with the RSA Intruder, unless there is something horribly wrong with it I'm pretty set. When I move I plan to get the schitt Mjolinir and Gungnir DAC but thanks for the replies
