I'm in a bit of a dilemma here the Craiglist in my Area has these listings

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum for $25
X-fi XtremeMusic for $35

which of the two is the better card? I heard the X-fi series of cards are the successor of the Audigy but the Xtrememusic is a low end card in the X-fi series while the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum is fairly High in the Audigy one

I'll be listening through Headphones of course and will be using Foobar2000 as my player

well they both use a Cirrus Logic CS4382 DAC

the xtreme music has the advantage of more DSP processing power.. eax 5.0hd and more channels available simultaneously for games
108dB snr for the audigy
109dB for the xtreme music

the xtreme music has the advantage of 'audio creation mode'
which has functionality like reverb to help cancel out echoes in your room.

other than that.. which one has a higher voltage output for headphones ??

higher voltage = better sound?
I won't be owning any Game audio gear anytime soon this is just for headphone listening so whatever results in better sound

it is true that more power will allow a speaker to play more than one thing at a time in higher detail and clarity.

its quite the reason why there is a 'dynamic' power rating and a 'RMS' power rating.

i doubt the difference is going to be much.. maybe .20 volts or something like that, nothing as drastic as 1v compared to 2v
so dont delay and pick one before its already sold since they are at a nice price.

besides, if you have high impedance headphones.. the people around here are going to recommend a headphone amp regardless of what soundcard you chose.

I am using a Mini3 amp, if either can offer Line out that'll be great

Thanks for the input guys
I decide to grab the XtremeMusic and it sounds excellent, Clearly better than the onboard I was using, though it took a lot of work and time error solving and getting the proper up to date drivers, software and all working

! have it on Creation Mode
Bit-Perfect Playback enabled
Creative Asio on Foobar
Master Volume, Wav volume and Foobar set to max (0db)
