I totally understand. I actually have a pair of $300 SRH940s that I really like, because they make music sound airy and ethereal. I get it. Sometimes a cheap product is all you need so please enjoy yours.

so you what you are saying is that once a headphone is discounted it's just not worth it's original price and somehow downgrades the product. (hifimans he 400& he500 now discounted by hifiman) , and you are the one that is hijacking, you should check out the sennheiser forums. you seem to be a fanboy...later

Those T1 continue to impress me day after day on my setup, I feel no need to upgrade.

We'll see. I'll compare them to the HD800 and Audeze LCD XC both of which I am very familiar with and both of which had flagship quality sound, even though I subjectively didn't like the frequency signature of the XC. Of course I'll also compare them to cheaper cans that I know like the SRH840, SRH940, SRH1840 and HD600.
 
Based on the "free market" that someone mentioned and praised earlier, it seems highly unlikely that a product that has to be sold for $720 or so to clear inventory can be as good as those that easily sell for $1,500 and up. But we'll see. I have very careful listening tests that I do.
 
That being said, even if I like them I'll probably have to return them and get a cheap one, of which there are a ton floating around on the internet including perfect condition slightly used models.

I thought you were going to stop hijackng the thread. But any way  to respond, I have an objective 2 amp, and my laptop has a better DAC than the ESS9023 + a 2.3 W amp and I have a hifimy and a wolfson in my g flex.
 
I also know what a $1,500 headphone sounds like, as well as the sound of a $300 can and a $600 can; very subtle differences, and I'll know if the $720 T1 is  a flagship or a mid-tier can. I've already checked out its charts on innerfidelity and I am quite concerned about the $600 can levels of high distortion as well as the utterly eratic treble frequency.
 
But let's see if the free market is proven wrong, and if this is really a flagship $1,400 can.

trust me the T1 is going to sound better then your $1500 headphone. then your going to want it for less money, and the deal will no longer be out there. better order now

Very simply, Beyerdynamic shouldn't price its headphone at $1,400 MSRP when it knows damn well the T1 isn't worth that much, as evidenced by fire sales conducted by its own authorized retailers. To do so is to show a complete lack of care and respect for those loyal customers who naively believed it was really worth $1,400.

That rule doesn't apply when you are dealing with honest manufacturers who price their product at what it's worth. You can do all the homework you want but you're not getting a new and warrantied HD800 for less than $1,500. Same for Audeze.
 
I think we both agree that Beyerdynamic is a bad company that will take advantage of its customers. We simply disagree as to whether all companies are bad companies. Let's leave it at that.

Yes it is. It is definitely my fault for trusting Beyerdynamic to be a higher notch of company on par with the Sennheisers of the world. Lesson learned. Beyerdynamic is clearly one of those companies that makes up a fake and unrealistic MSRP, gets a few suckers to pay that price, and then lets its retailers sell the product for the real mid-tier headphone price that the market will pay for aT1.
