Yes, I did those searches and, after noticing the dates(2 years ago), thought maybe I could get more recent evaluations.  I'm wondering, are they authorized resellers....would my warranty be good?  Am I sacrificing anything?

Several Head-Fiers (including me) have purchased ATH-W1000X headphones from them this year with no problems.  If you go to their website under FAQ, you will see that they say that there is no authorized dealer network in Japan, and all products have a 1 year warranty - in Japan.  It sounds like you would have to ship them back to Japan for warranty service in the 1st year.  Suggest you email them directly with your questions as they can respond in English.

Thanks for the information Ridleyguy.  I'm not sure I want to have to compromise on the warranty in such a way, you know.  The shipping is prohibitively expensive....but the cheaper initial price quote of 901.00 including shipping would make up for it but....hmmm?  The price of these are just a little bit too high for me, I guess....i think I'm going to stay tuned to this phone and put it on the top of my wish list, for now....I could change any day, though and reserve the right to do so(if you know what I mean(it's a sickness)).

I'd wait for initial impressions anyway before ordering a pair. Let our glorious Stax uncle have a listen first .

Sounds like an interesting product especially because it does not need extra care for humidity.

spritzer, HPA, senior Stax-ers, currawong, guydebord?  I'm here a new Stax-novice waiting for enlightenment.

Is humidity really an issue in practical terms? I can't see the level of humidity changing that radically in the room I listen to music in.

I suppose if you lived in the desert with super low humidity, there could be some effect, but again, is this a common problem?

Interesting vendor of the SR-507 (pasted from the new stax thread)....I personally don't have experience with this vendor and am seeking others opinions of joynetmall.....great price....the cheapest I've seen.

Update: My searches for opinions on joynetmall.com reviews on head-fi or google turned up nothing....I'd be leary until I got positive reviews.

I have ordered twice from joynet and have had no problems, as a matter fact both deals were perfect! I will buy my 507's with them.

RRRR....GuyDebord, not the information I was looking for.  I wanted you to tell me it was a bad site so I wouldn't be tempted.

Seriously, thanks though for the information.  819.00 plus 35.00 shipping...wow!  Must resist!

CORRECTION!

I bought my gear through Joynetcafe: http://stores.ebay.com/joynetcafe
http://cgi.ebay.com/STAX-SR-507-Lambda-Series-Electrostatic-Earspeakers-/390235287919?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5adbd5f16f
they have the 507's for 875 + 35shipping

NOT Joynetmall, they might be the same, but that I doubt, check before ordering!
