Are you sure the drivers Senn sends you are the newer drivers? Do you have the black drivers? I've heard there are subtle differences between the black HD650 and the newer silver driver versions but I haven't listened to the old version so I can't steer you one direction or the other.

Ah, I suppose I'm not sure they send the newer ones but I thought the older black ones went out of production around 2007. Mine are definitely the older drivers.

Gave my teenage daughter Philips Citiscape Downtown's for Chanukah tonight...she's ecstatic. Nice looking HP's, sound good (well reviewed), list for $100, still available at Ben's Outlet for $39.99 (maybe these will let me listen more to my Senn 650's, which my daughter has been borrowing extensively...)

My daughter is in heaven with the Citiscapes (her other phones are MeElectronics 151's...breaking my kids in well. My older daughter, college, has the same iem's and ATM-50's I gave her when she went to college). I would really recommend this as a gift to any music-loving family member or someone you'll spend $40 on.

Headphones as presents?!!?!? Want to adopt? I may be in my mid 20s, but I won't stay out late!

Doesn't every dad do this?

Doesn't every dad do this?

No. No they do not. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go in a corner and cry profusely.

Absolutely! I gave my daughter a pair of D2000's for her birthday last April.

Exception to the rule. I'm going to keep crying now.

Someone just posted a deal for these TDKs here. I'm going to try and get a pair myself, but for the rest of us Canadians, 5 bucks won't hurt, right?

Any thoughts on whether it would be worthwhile to upgrade my old HD650's with a pair of the newer drivers for ~$100? Thanks!

Definitely not, unless you have the older drivers. If you have the new ones, you'd be better off getting new pads. But still, there really isn't any reason to swap them out unless you want a slightly brighter sound.

^ those hd650 pics are a travisty. Who treats high-end products like that? Did someone give those to a thirteen year old? As a wise man once said..."that crap's beat, yo.."
