Which portable players support WM9 lossless?

I find it intriguing that microsoft would take the run into the lossless game, but seeing that alot of hard-drive jukeboxes are gonna be based offa microsoft media player it's a smart idea.

Which portables support WM9 lossless? Is it inherently different to WMA or is it the same format with a compressor that makess sure no bits are discarded? Anyone care to tell me?

P.S. I love how WM9 lossless has tags.

Zero portables support WM9 lossless or WM9 Pro (both different than WM9 or normal WMA). There's rumored support sometime next year, but will see. Right now if you want lossless your only option is the Karma and FLAC.

Sad, but true. Although with the M$ marketing muscle - I think you are far more likely to see WMA Losless support soon than Monkey's Audio, Shorten, etc.

Suprisingly, FLAC is supported by Karma. Although, with only a 20 GB HD - the Karma is not the best unit for lossless. I think once we see the 100GB units (how long? it was only 18 months ago that the Nomad 6GB Nomad was the biggest unit around), losseless will become more acceptable.

Scheduled early 2004 to market. However if it does reach production, we all know that schedules are rarely met.

I'm currently deciding which lossless format to archive my music in and I keep going back and forth between WMA Pro and Flac.

Right now Flac has better hardware support, but I'm guessing WMA Pro will have better support in a few years.

It would be clear cut if I saw hardware coming out that supports WMA Pro, but I haven't seen anything, nor heard any rumours that it will be supported in the near future.
