I've noticed as I was reading and looking at the Ixos Ministry of Sound headphones (DJ1001, 1002, 1003, etc.) that they look awfully similar to the Ultrasone stuff. Are these rebadged or something, or was their look just realllly influenced by the Ultrasone stuff?

I'm curious because there's a place in town that sells some of the Ixos headphones and the prices seem to be a little cheaper than the Ultrasones usually go for.

Any wisdom to impart?

thanks,

Dear Appar111,

The earcups of the phones are indeed similar as they come from the same supplier but the drivers are different. Moreover, the drivers are also differently placed. The Ixos do not have S-Logic. I never heard the Ixos but I do not expect much sonic resemblance.

Cheers,

Jan

I had a pair of the IMoS 1005s, got them on "open box" discount for $56. Not bad, but not great either. They're designed for DJ use, but even used V6s are slightly more expensive and sound better. If you don't need any isolation at all, even PortaPros are a better choice.
