i have herbie's dampers on both my peaks' tubes.
but, what i've learned with the peak is that if you have a microphonic tube, it will show up big time.
also, i've learned that you have to pay pretty careful attention to the tube pins.
any corrosion or bent pins, etc. that will cause come crackle, or even tube rush.
the peak has a unique tube socket type. so, it doesn't squeeze quite as tight on the tube pins as some of the others.
so any variation in thickness of the pins can mean poor contact...
anyways... long and short of it is this: find a quiet tube with clean straight pins, and you'll be set.
i've gone through a few vintage tubes before settling on the chrome top sylvania (quietest). and also use the shuguang treasures.
5692 tubes should be great as well. haven't tried one yet, though.
but, they have the additional support rods.
the brown base sylvania, or the red base RCA... renown for being ultra quiet and low-microphonic...
that's what the peak will need...
