Closed cans will have more bass than open ones. IMO if you're a basshead, go with the XBs.

Those are some good choices, although the M50 gets much more praise than the Sony. I don't find them hot, maybe a little warm. The M50 is a studio phone and portable so the coiled cable is most people's choice, thus more expensive. The M50 is really a $200 headphone, but they dropped the price for whatever reason. The M50 is only $100 on eBay.
