So i ordered my V6's from www.etronics.com and they shipped them not here to toronto, but to michigan. heres the first thing. i emailed them telling them that i didn't want to be billed, and i didn't want to do anymore business with them. will they just send me another pair like i asked them not too? will they get the pair they shipped and ship em to me? if they won't than great. i know you guys may not know but if you have any idea tell me. okay, secondly, i could just go downtown and pick up a pair of 7506's for 200 dollars canadian after tax. it costs about 140 to get the v6's to ship from the states... but by going downtown i avoid all the hassles of ordering, waiting, and such, and so on. is it worth it just to do downtown and drop the extra cash for peace of mind and better (how much better btw) phones?

Hmm. I don't know, 60 dollars more is still 60 dollar more. What is that worth too YOU?

As far as better, no, they are the same units(v6 and 7506). The OEM driver part number is even the same for both, if you go to replace blown drivers in one or the other. Only difference is a nickel plated plug on the v6 as opposed to gold plug on the 7506. Of course, the little raised model number is different on the cans. Oh, the peel off sticker that comes on the 7506 is a blue 'professional' sticker as opposed to the red 'digital' one that comes on the v-6. Think yo might prefer blue? :)

i have seen stuff that say the 7506's are higher quality

I suppose it is convenient to believe that since one cost a fraction more; but research does not conclude they are different quality.

If you were going to spend $200 instead of what you were going to spend... would that bring in other much better headphones into your price range anyway?..

For example.. Audio Technica ATH-A900 is only $185US... and they should be much better headphones than the V6's..

This is an example of sloppy reporting, IMO. The so-called measurements are not adequate. You need at least some way to reference the amplitude with frequency. All i see here is a tiny little low resolution screen shot of a recorded sine sweep, visualized through the wave editor he was using. But, as uyou can plainly see, the overall shape of both is nearly identical. The difference in the spurioius peaks between the two would not be signficant, since overall, the ear averages sound, over 1/3 octave bands. At least the author of this document states, correctly, that this could be the result of manufacturing tolerance differences. This is not a suprise to me, in my experiences with design and measurement, you will never find two transducers taht will measure identically, but they will meausure very similarly from the same brand/model, and sam;ing form a large number of parts can yeild closely matched groups. A more useful analysis for determination would ahve been for the author to simply record an impulse form the hedhpones, and caculate a cumative spectral decay plot. Or, more simply, a high resilution impedance plot. Both would allow the various resonances of the driver/structure to be identified, then compared for similarities. But, in the end, this case does not matter. The two headphones are the same. Nearly every part INCLUDING the driver(speaker) of the two is the same OEM(original equipment), listed under the same part numbers from Sony. Only the plug and can shell(different name printed, obviously) are different parts. While some audible difference would exist according to these measurment, it woudl hav to be so small as to be insubtantial. I have little doubt the author's percepton was aided by psychological factors.

Ah.. didn't realize the conversion takes it down so much.. sorry.. so that's about $150US that you're looking at.. totally not worth it, IMO...

You can get a HD580, HD590, or SR225 for that price... all of them much superior to the V6...

V6s are not worth $150. Buy an Ultrasone HFI-650 or ATH-A900 or something, you'll be much more pleased.

my alternative to the sony v6 since money was short was buying the AT ath-m30 and modifying it. it have the same shape as the v6. at first it sound clear, but not a lot of bass and overall not good on the low end, it was alittle recessed/relax sounding and only a little better than my px200. then i modify it and the thing still sounded clear, not recessed anymore and the bass was deep and punchy. it have no brightness fatigue, oppose to the v6 as i heard. the coolest thing about the headphone was the jack plug. gold plated and covered with thick alluminum, the 1/4 adaptor can be screwed onto the 1/8 plug. i kinda feel bad about selling it for only $30, maybe i'll buy it again some day. only bad thing was that it cant fold, not really a problem with me. i dont know how folding will help headphones that big.
