Agreed, also have mine with the Lyr.
Also have the Musical Fidelity V-link to take care of the USB problems mentioned in some of the reviews.

Very happy with this setup, and my T-1, LCD-2, and HE-6 are so happy, they sing!

Yeah I think I'm going to do the opamp upgrade that I was reading about last night Two (2) National Semiconductor LME49720 8-pin op-amps to go into the U1 and U2 positions on the DAC’s circuit board;

Two (2) National Semiconductor LME49710 8-pin op-amps to go into the U6 and U7 positions on the DAC’s circuit board; Also Im going to try an RCA tube that Bill suggested when I ordered. Only cost 13.00 to get the opamps and they swear by the upgrade so Im going to give it a wing
might be too bright for the Lyr with the Shiit tubes running will see.

Post to this thread after you do the upgrade and let us know how it works out, it sounded so good from day one that I never thought of upgrading it.
Thanks for the info.

I will give a synapsis once I get the opamps I will do the opamps first supposedly it gives a more 3d presentation. Once I have done the opamps I will remove them and then just do the tube and see if there is any change from what I have read there is little change with a tube roll. Will be interesting

Well today I replaced the Opamps in the DAC all I can say is WOW! its like it unmasked a veil everything is very detailed but not overly so. There is more air to the presentation as well more of a 3d effect I guess some would call it.
The best 13.00 well plus shipping that I ever have done. If anyone wants to do the upgrade you can get the parts from www.digikey.com the two far left Opamps are U1 and U2 the far right Opamps are U6 and U7 you can see the markings on the circuit board.

Upgrade:
Two (2) National Semiconductor LME49720 8-pin op-amps to go into the U1 and U2 positions on the DAC’s circuit board
Two (2) National Semiconductor LME49710 8-pin op-amps to go into the U6 and U7 positions on the DAC’s circuit board

I rank this upgrade as a 9 out of 10 I have one more opamp set coming in that Im going to try I will give more details on that when I get the Opamps

8-Dip they are direct replacements for the Op-amps in their currently if you order by the opamp numbers I have posted above it will give you the correct opamps.. NO not surface mounted that would be a pain to get someone to solder it on a adapter etc..

All i have to say to whoever own this dac upgrade to these opamps asap.  I have these running for about a month and a half and are really good.  Like others have said is just more musical.  I say it improve on an already good dac a good 20% overall.  Is just more pleasure to listen and more enjoyable.  With the new pre from Eastern Electric coming back from Bill this will be some good bang for the buck.  I tried some 12au7 from rca to tung sol and stock but ended up with Brimars.  Some say Psvane is good also and if further mod need be done head over to audiocircle.com.  I believe Boulder Cable make some upgrade to take it to the next level.

I think Im going to try a different combo the AD797's in U6 and U7 and the OPA2604's in U1 and U2 see what it sounds like just have to wait for the OPA2604's to come in

Well I have tried several opamps in the U1 and U2 socket that feed the tube output

1. opa2107 Dark good bass syrupy
2. Opa2604 Grey to Dark ok bass sounds similar to stock opamps
3. LME49720 Too Bright and analystical sounds mechanical

The Winner is the AD823 sounds tremendous great bass midrange and treble plus unbelievable sound stage all music is wider sounding and that's through the LCD-2's I highly suggest this opamp. I used this several years ago in a cmoy and didnt thing about it until the other day and remebered how good it sounds. All I can say is this is the one for the tube output..

You want to get the Pdip version http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?wt.z_cid=ref_hearst_0211_buynow&site=us&mpart=AD823ANZ
AD823ANZ they are 4.00 a piece you will need two

Best mod I have done to any of my audio equipment yet..

Also, a nice upgrade for the EE DAC is a silver fuse it brings out more detail you can get them from Boulder cable company who modifies EE DACS
I just got mine in today and was pleasantly suprised its not just snake oil with the silver fuses.
