Sure it will work sometimes...but I would say the rate of success between face to face and random text message is pretty large. Even as a guy, if a girl wanted to tell me that she liked me, I would have much more respect for her if she came up to me. It is just more personable. But yes, of course it will work sometimes just by a text.
