I'd like your perspective.  I am going to do an A/B this weekend but it will take a few minutes to swap the cable over...........hence another reason to have a spare HE-6 cable.

Devialet 120 arrived...imaging from it is stunning......never heard better, but I have limited exposure with amps.

Imaging from the HE1k is fantastic. Never heard better. I'd say better than the R10 too.

I wanted a speaker setup, will be getting KEF LS-50 soon.

it is also good with HE-6, but these days I am not able to spend much time with headphones.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a Krell evolution 302e power amp. Pair it with the 202 preamp or go for a passive pre.

I don't have the room for speakers yet sadly.

It looks very big, I am happy with this one box solution...more smaller more better for me.

are you planning to pair HE1k with Krell 302e?

I'd like a smaller box solution too except I haven't found something has beat the sound of separates. For the time being, that's the plan.

So now that I'm set ampwise I kinda want to experiment with the mods that I've heard about. Can anyone point me to an idiot-proof guide somewhere? I found one for the Fuzzor mod but not the other two (removing the grill + removing the cotton)

It's quite simple: Just remove the plastic ring, the grill and the foam and fibres and you're fine ... soundwise. I might mount a acoustically transparent cloth instead of using a grill. This will keep dust out - and will probably be even more open sounding.

My second hand HE-6s have a small 1cm wide semi curved strip of felt applied to the upper edge of the upper quadrant of the inner driver surface...the triangular foam piece was not there...

Do I need to refit the foam triangles and what do they do?
