Wow, it's weird that PS Audio doesn't really have an area for these firmwares.
does anyone using the volume control on the pwd or set it to 100% and use the amp's volume control? I usually set it to 100% but some album is too loud and i feel lazy not to move and use the iPad to lower the output to 80%.

I always have at 100%. If the volume control is done (which I don't know in the case of the PWD) at the digital domain lowering the volume can potentially affect resolution. Wadia does not recommend to set the volume control in the Wadia DACs less than 86% or the resolution will be affected.
Finding "the right" balance between DAC output and amp volume has always been a confusing issue for me on all of my setups. If I put my PWD at 100, the volume is way too loud for me with most music with my Liquid Fire with the volume knob barely turned. I'm using LCD-3s with a Halide SPDIF to USB converter, and the LF doesn't have a gain adjuster.
Even with my PWD at 60, I don't have much of a usable volume range on my LF, but that's about the highest I can go. How serious do you guys think the resolution degradation is by going below 100, and by going below 60? Has anyone tested to see if they can hear the difference?
