LOL. There's a 2.03!? Yeah I do feel 2.02 can be a little too lush.

Wow, it's weird that PS Audio doesn't really have an area for these firmwares.  My own guess is that it has to do with them still bug testing to arrive at a final version before going public?  I'm pleased with 2.0.2 but now tempted to try 2.0.3!

BTW it helps if you search for the phrase "see if this OK" to get to the exact post with the 2.0.3 download.

Yeah, firmware issues is kind of nuts.  Way too much discrepancy between all the different versions, but I guess that's what happens when you have a dac streaming from a network.  It's probably similar to how Pure Music and Amarra slightly change sound signature every time they tinker with their software / decoders.

I'm using 2.02 with no problems whatsoever.  Bass is awesome and tonality is spot on.

I recently finally upgraded to MKII. So far, I love its sound improvements. Now, my main concern is whether or not will I still use the Bridge. The USB output is simply much more user friendly.

yes, the usb is much better than the original version.  i started to use the usb from my mac air now, never used the usb on the original.  i'm still using the bridge primary as my nas is located in the office and the pwd is in my bedroom, less noise from hard drive spin up and less distraction from browsing the web while listening session.

does anyone using the volume control on the pwd or set it to 100% and use the amp's volume control?  I usually set it to 100% but some album is too loud and i feel lazy not to move and use the iPad to lower the output to 80%.

I always have at 100%. If the volume control is done (which I don't know in the case of the PWD) at the digital domain lowering the volume can potentially affect resolution. Wadia does not recommend to set the volume control in the Wadia DACs less than 86% or the resolution will be affected.

I do recall (if I'm not crazy), Paul said anything above 60% does not have any degradation. I too usually keep it at 100% but sometimes just lazy not get up to lower the volume on the amp and use the pwd volume control.

Finding "the right" balance between DAC output and amp volume has always been a confusing issue for me on all of my setups. If I put my PWD at 100, the volume is way too loud for me with most music with my Liquid Fire with the volume knob barely turned. I'm using LCD-3s with a Halide SPDIF to USB converter, and the LF doesn't have a gain adjuster.

Even with my PWD at 60, I don't have much of a usable volume range on my LF, but that's about the highest I can go. How serious do you guys think the resolution degradation is by going below 100, and by going below 60?  Has anyone tested to see if they can hear the difference?

I always leave my DAC at 100%. I'm want to get everything I paid for

Not sure if these would be any less damaging to the sound than turning down the DAC. I use a pair of the F-mods on my sub.

I always turn my PWD to 100%. Paul McGowan mentioned that setting to 100% volume allows the DAC's volume to be bypassed.

So far, I found one convenient use for the Bridge. Using the eLyric controller, I can switch inputs (ie from optical to USB and vice versa).

I'm interested in getting the gapless feature while using the Bridge, but I couldn't get it to work. So far, I updated all firmware, including the eLyric controller, the PWD, the Bridge, the eLyric app. I also had checked off gapless from the eLyric app. So far, no luck.

It would be great if there will be a new Squeezebox box and it has mini-XLR support. If this ever happens, I would be able to use my PWD's AES connection.

I got it to work, but it was buggy. The Bridge still sounds better, but the new USB is close enough. There comes to a point where is there enough resolution and detail extraction for me.

Are you using the lower gain output from your LF?
