hey all,

this is what my setup is/will be. for headphones, the Ety 4S and an AKG 271S (with the equinox cable). For an amp I will be getting the Emmeline xp 7. now what i am looking for is a good cd player. I already have a Sharp dr7 md player, which is fine, but I find myself wanting the added convinience of a cd player. my most important factor is sound quality of course, with ergonomics and price close second and third.

Well If you want sound quality I guess you have to hunt for Vintage pcdp. Unfortunatly modern pcdp are more about super long batteries life than sound quality.

The problem is they don't have a skip protection so some people find them only transportable but for me I use my denon dcp-100 all the time for walking around. I just have to use the bag that come with it. Be carefull to not jump, run ro hit anything and you'll be fine, it doesn't skip just walk normaly. Oh ya they eat battries like mad. My batteries' modiffy Denon DCP-100 go trought 4 AA in about 4 hours. So I have 4 set in rotation.

(I moddify my Denon accept AA batteries)

Model top model to look for are the Sony D-311, Sony D-303 , Sony D-515, Denon DCP-150, Denon DCP-100.

if you talk about sound quality, i would probably choose minidisc. i dont know how but it seem to me my minidisc player with compressed file sound better than my cd player with a real cd. as said above, cd players these day is more concerntrated on battery and features over quality. i end up buying a cd player though. would have bought a minidisc but they are $300+ for a new one with line out, like the sony mz-n10 and the mz-n910 and the one you mention. or the really old ones that dont have netmd support (like sony r55), which i think is too unconvenience.
