Well, some people might say that I'll give a rather biased review for this beer, since I worked for the brewery for a few months this summer, but to be honest, there are a few beers that ABC doesn't do too well and some I absolutely love (i.e. Pale Ale and Grinnin' Grizzly).

This beer was of the former class. Batch 666 is kind of an anomaly for me, since it isn't really well described by the brewery. Its an ale, dark brown with decent head retention. First smell is mildly hoppy with some sweet malt, maybe caramel. The first sip reveals a good level of carbonation for the style (if it is in fact a Brown Ale, as it looks like). The hops do not really present. The bartender, who I know pretty well (Pete, for anyone familiar with the Gettysburg location) described it as a mix between a porter and the IPA we have on tap there. It really didn't remind me of a porter except for the aftertaste. As for the IPA bit...no. The hop flavor was not really evident and the beer actually came off a little watery. The body was extremely light and was completely against what I was expecting from a dark beer.

Flavor was lacking, hops were non-existent, and the beer was just weak overall. I enjoy a few of the beers ABC has on tap regularly and a few of the seasonals, but this was just kind of lack luster. I'd advise staying away from it.

Cheers, and happy drinking!
