The crappy hd201 cable finally broke, and I want to recable them.

I dismantled the headphones but I don't know how to take out the driver from the frame it's fixed on. There were screws but I took them out, and the driver assembly is still fixed to the frame ...

I'm in the same boat. Have them apart right now. Maybe if you heat up the glue (oven, heat gun, etc) but I have no idea how that would effect the driver (probably not good).

I just snapped it with knife. But you should play with knives when there is headphone driver in proximity. I broke one Koss UR40 driver that way. I was supposed to change the drivers to HD 201 frame.

that frame is glued all the way.

Thanks Spacehead. Finally got it, just had to crank on it a while.

There is a small amount of adhesive that holds the plastic in place. I used a small flat screwdriver to pry it loose the few times I took 201s apart. Be gentle, work slowly, you'll be fine.

I recabled them too, gently pried them open with a screwdriver. :)

I'm ashamed to post my picture ... compared to me,  racer_x124 is Leonardo Da Vinci ...

Where did you get those pads  /  how did you make them? I have very worn-out pads on mine ... and I'm looking for new pads.
