With my previous post I wrecked any chance I had at relying on the plausible deniability TrueCrypt offers, so it's a good thing I've got nothing to hide.

Mostly I just want my private files to remain private in the event that I die prematurely. There's no need to make my mom sad twice.

Whats wrong with NTFS permissions? What are you trying to hide? What kind of enviroment are you working in that your so worried.
