Review: Fischer Audio's DBA-02

I use mine with my Headsix and they sound amazing, straight out of my clip+ they sound great aswell. But with the amp the bass has alot more depth and punch... Everything just sounds better! Cost to performance the headsix is quite a steal! Plus one 9v battery will last an insane amount of time! 100+hrs easily.

What amp did you paired it up with?

If anyone has the DBAs and the 2G Arrow.  Put the bass on II and laugh your A** off straight to the Boom Bank.  Rumble and sub-bass on a DBA?!  Bass light?  I think not....Hahaha!

This thread is indeed strange. I expected more of a good amount of this thread being "where's the bass" posts since this phone is very similar to the CK10 and that thread has a bunch of those as well as other threads about the apparent lack of bass there

Although I don't think too many people have the arrow 2g

My first thought upon hearing my DBAs was "where's the bass?"  However, after I messed with the EQ and then plugged it into an amp, they are not lacking anymore.  I love them

I had perfectly balanced bass w/ the E5.  Only had the Arrow for a few days, but the II setting is pretty hilarious.  Make no mistake, its not a joke effect.  Its seriously good that you can flip a switch and get sub bass and enhanced kick drums.  My experience says fit is most critical followed by amping for full note, body and good bass.

What's even more surprising is that I've had a grand total of 1 email saying that they lacked bass. No complaints here, of course!
Seriously, I'm glad everyone (and that truly seems to be nearly everyone) seems to be happy so far.

Perhaps that's because it has been well discussed beforehand here that the bass won't be anything near heavy, which kept expectations about the bass in check and kept away any hardcore bassheads. Well thats what threads like this are for yeah?

That's the odd thing really. These don't have that much more than the RE0 from memory and quite similar to the CK10 yet both of those threads and filled with complaints about the bass. Maybe people did better research on the DBA-02 and had realistic expectations. I do wish I could have kept them however but I think my universals are all pretty good and wouldn't want any of them to get lonely. If only the prices of customs dropped that last digit that usually prevents me from owning them

I am glad that a lot of people like these however. These are quite the bargain at under $200 esp those that got it at the $145 or so price during the discount when Ethan had it before it shipped.

I could however send you a couple emails about the "lack of bass" if you want however

The dba's have the perfect amount of bass for me. I like my music to be clean and cold sounding but the extra bass as compared to the pfe's are more than welcomed as it's tight and with a punch which doesn't bleed into the mids and highs.

Haha glad to know that after being scared half to death by all my not-very-optimistic posts you're enjoying these :) But at the same time I'm surprised you got used to these so quickly. IMHO these take about a week of "what the heck am I putting in my ears" before realizing their true value/quality, especially when transitioning from warmer/bass-heavy phones.

I thought they were crap when I ran out of the post office to tear open the box and try them out in my car out of a Nexus One playing a low-quality MP3...  Combined with a terrible seal (I still hadn't tried any of the other tips), the sound was very thin and mighty awful.  Fast-forward to listening to them on a Meier-Audio Opera + high-quality MP3/M4A/lossless and it's night and day.  It *has* been around a week now since I picked them up, now that I think about it.  I just hadn't posted so far because I was lazy :p

Be patient with the DBA-02.
When I first took them out of the box they sounded pretty bad. Sharp in the highs, thin sounding, etc... Figured out the fit/seal then its taken some time to burn in but now they sound superb.  As for the bass; its kind of weird. sometimes the bass is just right, sometimes I want a little more.  If you like bass heavy, the DBA-02 isn't for you. These are very balanced sounding IEMs with a touch of warm, clarity across the spectrum.
