I'm looking for an excellent bud that can compare to the Grado SR60. Sure I know they are 2 different types of headphones but I just mean I want it to sound as good.

I currently have EX71 Nudes and think they sound OK, kinda boomy. I really like the isolation and thats why I want some earbuds. My top pic right now is the Shure E2C. I saw the Etymotics stuff and don't like how they look (call me shallow). Does anything else compare to the E2c's and does anyone know how the cord on the E2c is built? Is it tough/thick, does it "dent" easily?

Help me make a decision soon, because I am travelling out of the country and want to bring these along.

My last request is... does anyone know where I can get the E2c's cheapest or does Shure distribute them solely?

The Shures are available all over. Do a search on Google for e2 and e2c.

Keep in mind, inserted, the Ety 4P/S's (if those are what you're referencing, ER6's are even less noticable) are little more than wires and a bit of blue & red. Well there's that green pod too. The ER4's are far beyond the SR60's in almost every respect (course the price indicates they should be). I sold my SR225's after getting them. They're in that league.

A lot of folks use the E2 for workouts because they are built with a sturdy cable and housing connection. (Search this forum for E2….)The cable diameter is thicker than you might be used to, but fairly pliable. Dent? If you're doing something that could dent connecting wire, Are you sure you want it around you head and in your ears….. ? 8~) I think you'll find the cable plenty durable.

I recently bought a pair of E2s for my girlfriend so my performance-related exposure is limited. They don't compare to my E5s (bliss), but I was impressed when I plugged them in. I'll enjoy listening to them when she accidentally grabs the 5s instead… E1 is a step up (opinions vary) but others will have to vouch for the sturdiness of the cable.

If there is a Guitar Center near you, you might be able to find them in stock. Headroom, one of the forum sponsors (look for the link), is also a great source (if shipping meets your departure schedule). GC is cheaper but no return policy.

Ety: You might change you mind about the Ety ER-4 if you try them, regardless of how they look. A step up, step up, in performance over your SR60-related search, but if they're comfortable to you, they are an excellent earphone.

Well even if the ety's dont look bad they are still way too expensive. So I guess I'm gonna go with the Shure E2c...

would you say these are as good as my Grado SR60? Better? I'm still not sure on the cord. Is it better and thicker then the EX71 NUDE cord? I find the EX71 to be very comfie when in my ear.. are the Shures as comfortable?

i'd say that they arent better that SR80s sound quality wise, but their plusses (portability, isolation) are more than enough in my case.
