Hi everyone,

I'm TrentH, i'm kinda new here; and to audio.

I'm really looking to take my computer gaming to the next level. So I decided to buy a high end headset.

BUT I need alot of help with powering it and not sure if any of these soundcards are up to par.

The headphones i'm looking at are,

Audio-Technica ATH-A700 (Suppose to be great so i've read)

The soundcards i've been debating about are,
HT Omega Claro Halo (That's a mouth full isn't it?)
HT Omega Striker
Azuntech with X-Fi chip as EAX support would be great.
Asus Xonar Essence ST or STX (But it appears these don't support 5.1? Which is what i've got with my main speakers)

The headphones I want are 64 Ohm, and i'm not sure how to tell how many ohms a soundcard outputs and i've read google for the past 2 days now.

EAX Support for positioning enemys as I play FPS only would be great. But if it's not needed then that's fine too.

Any help as to what soundcard i'll need to power these would be great. (I'm not looking to purchase a 100$ amp, unless it's an absolute must)

Thank you all,
TrentH

Any soundcard that is of average quality or higher can output enough power for 99.99% of headphones/headsets (unless you go high end, with 150 ohms or something, 64 ohms isn't that much you know...)

May I suggest you don't invest that much if you are new to audio? the sound quality difference to non-audiophiles between average and super-high is next to none sometimes

Thank you for your help.

I have onboard sound right now. I use to own a Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty(what a joke).

It blew out twice and the warrenty expired.

Do you think I would benefit from the EAX? I never got to use it on my X-Fi card as I never owned headphones. Or do you think the HTOmega Striker would be ok and i'd still be able to audio posistion people without the EAX?

Blah, what card is better for gaming is what i'd like to know and will power those headphones effecently?

Thank you :p,
TrentH
