Dell Mini9 sound question

Thread Starter
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the sound to come out of a USB port instead of the headphone out?

Right now my 2.1 sound system comes out of my Headphone jack, I would like to buy something like the Musiland currently for sale on this board or use my Zero Dac - just something to improve the overall quality.

I use Winamp as my player.

thanks in advance

Yes, but audio setup depends on the OS.
I use a Nuforce uDac on Mini 9 with Ubuntu 9.10 netbook remix:

Connect any Linux compatible USB DAC (I am not familiar with the ones you listed)

Go to Launcher >> System >> Sound applet.

Click Hardware tab, verify the device is listed in the "Choose a device to configure" pane, and that the profile is "Analog Stereo Output"

Click Output tab, select your USB DAC as the device for sound output.

Done. Unless Winamp has its own output options.

For other OS, just search how to configure sound options.

Err-- isn't the zero DAC optical or coax only? no USB?

You are using Windows so I would say Yes. Just plug in your USB DAC and select it as your primary output through the sound options.
