If I were John Grado (or Joseph Grado a little while ago), I would be VERY offended

There cannot possibly be a top Grado model per se. Models such as the PS1000/GS1000 and RS1 cater to different ways of listening to the same music, and since tastes vary one person's "top" Grado would be another's second choice. Having said that, I think the PS1000 was probably designed as a "do it all" can, i.e. retain some of the wide soundstaging of the GS1000 with a bit of the forward mids from the RS1 (Jack of all trades, but master of none?) Whether it is successful or not depends on who you speak to, I guess, since opinions can be somewhat polar as to what should constitute the ideal Grado sound.

SR60. Then, if you can afford it, you can try out the other models for variations on that sound.

HP-1000. Because it is the best (most seem to prefer over PS-1) and it shows what Grado can really do
