My Hornet died, and it is currently at RSA being diagnosed to see if it is something that makes sense to fix - i.e. doesn't cost enough to make me think about just buying something new.

IF the Hornet comes back fixed, I'm leaning towards a Shadow. The fixed Hornet will be my "move around the house with my K601 or DT880" amplifier, and the Shadow will be the "super-ultra portable to use with my E4s or ATH-CK7s at work or out and about' amplifier.

If my Hornet costs too much to fix, or can't be fixed, I'd lean towards the Mustang. From what I read on RSA's site, the Mustang is better equipped to drive higher impedence phones. That gives it a leg up in this regard vs. the Shadow.

What do you all think? I may have missed some angle, so I look forward to hear your thoughts.

Are there alternatives to the Mustang and Shadow that have similar sounds, capabilities, quality, and customer service?

Thanks.

The Meier Audio 3Move sounds like a bargain. The only negative I've read is that an earlier model had issues with the jack.

What is the difference in sound signature between the Meier Audio "house" sound and the RSA sound?

I have no experience with RSA amps but I can assure you that the 3Move is a powerful amp that has great synergy with Beyers. It truly is a bargain! I haven't noticed any problems with the jack, fyi.

You really can't get much more portable than the Shadow. The sound is great and paired with a Clip+ and some IEM's, it's the ultimate portable rig. It would easily fit inside a shirt pocket.
