That is quite possibly the most random list I've ever seen. It goes from Skullcandy to Sleek Audio, and I'm not quite sure why some of the models with poor review scores are in there.

Monster's Turbine High Performance In-Ear Speakers ($179.95 list) is a lightweight pair of earphones that looks as nondescript as the earbuds bundled with your garden-variety MP3 player.

Wow, there is no part of that statement I don't disagree with.

the Turbine achieves a slightly brighter sound by adding a little more presence in deep sub-woofer territory.

Yea after reading it I would have to disagree with that for the most part. Meh, I think they just picked some of the more obvious consumer popular companies/models and did quick reviews of them.

I mean they open with "there are other headphones such as the UE 11 PRO which cost 1150!". That right there told me that the guy who's doing this article A) Doesn't really know much about audio (or as much as the "average" person on here and B) Is writing this with the mass population in mind.

I wish they went to actual sites like this one and polled us... ya know? LIke an official PC Mag poll from Head-Fi; they could even put restrictions on who could post and whatnot. But meh, that list isn't worth an extra read/bookmark IMO :/

except that the population in head-fi is not the majority opinion. polling us would be a bad idea since for a lot of us decent earphones doesnt even begin until you get past the $100 mark. the list of iem's chosen is not bad considering the majority of those are what i would see in a best buy, apple store, etc. with the exception of maybe 1 or 2.

The in-ear entry in the Beats by Dr. Dre line, the Tour, offers a consistent fit and strong bass without overwhelming.
