I'm looking for a small DAC for a bedroom / long-term travel / "cottage" build. It will be used with a Stax SRM-252A and a SR-003, or possibly a SR-202. It should (in order of whats most important)...

1. <$500 US / remotely available to me here in Canada
2. Have a USB connection as well as the standard digital s/pdif inputs
1. Like stated above, it should match the SRM-252 nicely (mostly looking at value here)
2. Be small and easy to transport. It will be taking a trip once in a while! Maybe something the same size or smaller than the 252. Here is a picture of the amp and headphones for size comparison.

Something like this might work (or might even be too large?), but I have never really shopped or researched DACs -any advice?!

The headroom micro DAC is a very good choice IMO. Or maybe you can get someone to build you a gamma2...
