QC could be an issue these days. So far, I've been lucky.
 
Regardless the 3 cases MDT come with, I just received a Shure zip case that is spacious and sturdy. It's the case that normally comes with the SE535's. Pricey, but a small price to keep my IEM's in shape if in pocket or bag.
 
I sported the MDT today on the way back from work. I haven't worn an earring or two ever, but I'm digging the glint of gold seen with these in-ears. Here's the kind of clothes I need to get to be totally into the MDT's, lol.

So it does not have that extremely punchy bass that the golds have?

I just got my trumpets for $225.59 and these things are awesome! My old pairs were the Sennheiser IE7 and Westone 2 and the MDT just blows them away! One thing I didn't like about the trumpets was the weight however. I'm 5'7 and they're pretty big on my ears and tend to sag down causing a little strain when I'm listening to them for more than 30 mins, I remedied it a bit by putting them on over the ear. lol
 
My only gripe about this is that none of the eartips fit me except the smallest regular bud, I found it really strange because I'm normally a medium on all the other IEMs I've tried and even with this smallest bud I'm not sure if it's a perfect fit. (even though it does sound amazing) The supertips are all too big for my ears and can't even fit, can anyone recommend which tips to buy for these? Are the ones included in the packing s m l? If so I'm thinking about getting the XS super tips from monster.

I purchased the MDT three ish weeks ago from a member used them for about an hour just don't like them tried all the tips including comply, little disappointed just don't think the sound is for me.
 
anyway just giving everybody a heads up that i will be putting them up for sale soon they are in mint condition with everything and original receipt for the lifetime warranty.

I'm convinced that my box of MDT was subjected to pressurization of some type. Perhaps in the hold of an airplane. There was the wetness on the box from the gel tips from in the box display. And now that I have tested other packaged tips in the box, some of the gel versions in the sealed package looked flabby and moist, like they got blown out in some way. Meanwhile, Staples had on store display the Monster tip selector and all the gels looked in great condition; the way mine should have arrived.
 
During actual tip sound check, the Monster gels fared poorly for my ear canal shape. Monster foam did good, as did Auveo, Comply small T-400 and MeElec double flange tips.Each yielded satisfactory sound depth. Sony Hybrid didn't make the grade. Basically, a lot of the included Monster tips didn't do it for me. They sapped bass and made for a thin sound.
 
Second go 'round will be to check the winners for things like comfort; ease of insertion and balanced sound.

Beginning pages of this massive thread should yield what you want to learn. That's when MDT was first being discussed and some members were drawing those comparisons in posts. Also, check Joker's review of it and you might see some comparisons within the review as written.
 
Edit: I got Tributes because they intrigued me and that they're not going to be around anymore new in box. Know that a broken pair in the future will be replaced under warranty with the Mile Davis Trumpets; Monster's replacement IEM associated with the Miles Davis foundation and that remains in production.

I had the Golds some time ago and quickly sold them as the sound was just too soft and bloated for my liking at the time.  I recently got a pair of Tributes and LOVE them. Tighter sound, perfect jazz earphone - actually does justice to its name.

I can. That exact same thing happened on my pair. These are a fail as far as I am concerned. They can sound like heaven as ascended on your ears but what good is that when your housing is in 2 pieces. If the sound is not broken I would try a small controlled dab of surperglue to put the housing back together. My pair now will never come apart like this again.  The funny thing is my $7.11 Mp 8320 is built stronger than these. Those I stepped on several times and still sound like they are brand new.

I'm pretty sure if you stepped on the MP8320 it'd break before the MDT since it's all plastic. At least with the MDT the materials are good, it's just that the QC is very porous. It's like someone just forgot to apply an adhesive. What I always say about the Turbine Pros is that they're built like tanks. Tanks where someone forgot to bolt on the treads. Probably applies to the MDT as well.

Oh it was by accident. I had them plugged into my desktop and was testing out some tracks and I had some customers come into my shop. I didn't realize they fell onto the floor and I stepped on them with my full 180lbs on one side of the earphones. I was in shock at first but when I looked at them they were only scuffed with no harm what so ever..That happened twice. I suppose I am clumsy like that. I handle my MMDTs like they are made of pure gold however.
 
If they only payed attention to the manufacturing of these. That would probably save Monster so much time and money replacing countless earphones.
