Am I supposed to fold these up the same way as the v6? I extend them all the way out and they fold up into the headband the same way... is this hurting them in any way?

there was a thread a while back about folding the earcups up into the headband placing strain and pressure on the cord.

I own the HD280's, (for now.... i think the bass has turned terrible...) and I avoid folding them up into the band. i do however fold the cups flat if they're going into my laptop backpack...

My first set of HD-280pro was kept in my backpack in such a manner. One of the earpieces ceased to function because of this along with the added pressure of my school books.
Perhaps you could modify the cable so that it could be safely folded into the headband?

I believe that on the package or in a manual that comes with HD280's they show you how to store them...one of which is folding one side in and having the other side come over it - formiing a circle. The other way is to extend both sides all the way out and to fold them in.
