Hi,

I'd like to ask you guys for some advice on buying my first pair of headphones. I'd like to wear them most of the time in conjunction with my mp3-player (currently still a 5 year old Creative zen) or on pc. I'd like them to be portable but no need to be very tiny but also not to big of course.
I currently have some rather cheap Philips in ear phones (sports model around the ear), but I find it hard to get good isolation against external noise from them as it's hard to make them fit snugly in my earchannel without falling out.
I use them mostly in the train, bus or when walking ( or in the plain) and so would like to have a pretty good isolation from external noise. Of course I also expect a good sound quality to be able to enjoy my music a lot more.
The kind of music I listen to ranges from rock, pop, guitarmusic, soundtrackmusic, a bit of dance,... (so quite versatile)

I had a small look around within my price range ( under 100$ or around 70 euros) and made a small list so far with the prices I found for eStores here in Belgium, but I'm also asking for advice on others if you have other suggestions:
-Philips SHL 9600
-AKG K430
-Sennheiser HD218
-Denon AH-P372
-JBL 410
-Sennheiser PX-200-II (which seems to be a favourite on this forum (also for my purpose?) but it's also a little more expensive to buy where I find them here in Belgium compared to the others)

Please give me a little bit of advice, thank's in advance !

Why not get a nicer set of in-ears? You won't get the same levels of isolation with portable headphones no matter how good they are. The PX200-II and Denons (the only two phone I've tried from your list) are both quite good in terms of sound (with the PX200 being a step above the P372) but I would personally want a more isolating set for use on a train. Not sure what they cost in Belgium but either the JVC HA-M750 or AKG K81Dj would be my choice.

Sennheiser HD428 or HD438, they can work very well for your needs.

On the subject of the Philips, the SHP2700 and SHP5400/5401 should be good according to some and I'm considering either the two of them or the SHP5400/5401. For the Philips headphones there seem to be more reviews/tests in Germany. The SHL9600 can be good though.

If your budget allows it you can go for a two headphones, one for the outdoors and one for indoors use.

Veel geluk...

The SHP5400 sounds good indeed but it does not isolate at all.

OK, tnx already for the feedback. I've been looking around this forum and on the net a bit further and managed to cut back my list to the following three (with the prices incl home delivery I found here):

- Denon AH-P372
- AKG K518
- Philips SHL9600

It's a pitty I don't find a lot of reviews about the Philips headphone to compare to the others. Prices are more or less comparable so it's gonna be a hard time deciding
