It's not cheap but you can actually buy it from Syntec, the Australian distributor of Sennheiser.

HD650 parts list - the prices make me cry.

You could get a HD600 headband to save some money but I think most people will tell you to simply glue it together and paint the whole headband.

Sorry, I try to tell everyone to not bend Senns. You simply slip them on.

The 580, 600, and 650 all have the same weak, easily broken headband. Check out the notes in my thread on various attempted fixes, and what I found worked for me.

Yeah it's Senn's fault. Coming from K701s which you pry apart to put them on your head, I almost did the same with the Senns. Luckily I happened to be in a strange thinking mood and examined my HD650 to realise that I'd probably snap them if I did that. Quick search on HF and heaps of people have done that. I'd stick some MASSIVE warning label on the headphones so people don't do that.

is it me? or does the headband cost $200+++

???

I don't know about the 650. The 580 band was $79.95, with a 4 week wait.

just get your hands on some epoxy resin. I bought a resin and hardener combination tube for £4.99 and did my HFi-15G's with them and i haven't had a problem since. Sure for asthetics you might want to be a bit more thorough than me and my HFI fix, but it works.

you could see it as a short term fix.

Yup lol.

Syntec no longer sell the 580 headband. The 600 headband is $180.

dang how often does this occur?

Out of 181 respondents, 12 replied that their headband cracked. This isn't a statistically valid sample size, and I'd argue that a poll on the head-fi community is not a valid sampling method to determine the true durability of the product, but in terms of discreet numbers - 7.41% of those poll respondents saw a fractured headband.

Well don't bend the band. The ear pieces swivel and you slide them on your head.

Oh, sweet Jesus. $230 for a headband? Screwwwww that!

Fix the crack. Don't replace the headband. You can do this at home and save yourself a lot of cash.

Here again, my ghetto fix. The great part is they sound just as sweet as always.

Rarely and normally only with misuse.

I have an HD 580 from 1992, an HD 580 Jubilee and an HD 600 and have never had a headband problem with any of them.
