I just purchased some sennheiser hd238s, however I am not happy with how much it takes to drive them to normal listening levels for me. My AKG K450s are about 50%-60% comfortably however the hd238 take 70%-80%. My source is a unamped 6G 80gb ipod classic. I was wondering how the Denon 1001s sound unamped? Are they easy to drive like the AKG K450? Thanks in advance!

I'm not as experienced as many of the people on these boards, but I bought the AH D1001 off of a reccommendation from this site. I absolutely love them. They are easy to drive with just an Ipod. I have not tried them with an amp, as I do not own one, but they sound amazing to me with just an Ipod. The only issue is that they do not isolate at all. I used to wear them on the subway once-in-a-while and I can hardly hear the music. I just use them for home listening now. They are amazing headphones though.

X2 - I love these too, sound great and very comfortable, can wear for hours without comfort.
