Thanks Mark but I have £100 and want to spend a little of it on other Amazon stuff.

Um, I can't find the ATH-CKS70's. Are they discontinued?

Now, I'm torn between the Monster's which having looked at the promo videos admittedly look like hype over content or the Shure SE115's.

Then I'm thinking, I don't need one but why not buy an iPad when it's out. Cheap and for once I can say that I was one of the first to buy one! Totally off topic but anyone thought of buying one? This article does sum it up well though:

Charlie Brooker | iPad therefore iWant? Probably. Why? iDunno | Comment is free | The Guardian

Have a giggle.

Oh and thanks for the advice!

You seen the service problems people have with iheadphones?

Ordered a pair of AT CK5 recently and hadn't any problems at all.

They're not discontinued. They're just only sold in Japan or through Accessory Jack. If you want to use Amazon, you won't find them.

I've recently borrowed a mates Shure SE110's and the bass is almost non-existent but they do seem really well made and have great clarity. I quite fancied the Ultimate Ears Super.i 3's but I read on Head-Fi that the bass is not very good, is that true? I could go for the SE210's but don't get the impression that the bass improves any. Not sure if that is true either.

Ideally I'm after the most current phones (there seem to be loads that have been on the market for ages). They need to be the best for bass in ear headphones that are currently available. I listen to trance, drum n bass, house and hip hop. Here is the exact criteria

Ideally phones must be:
  • Between £65 - £85 in price (preferably top end of the budget, include any you know are on sale too as it's nice to pick up a bargain)
  • Have good bass but no muddiness
  • Must be IEM's (no over ear phones in ear only please)

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks

SE110 and SE210 are not bassy IEMs, stay away.
The Super.Fi 3's are also quite bass deficient; the highs and mids blow the bass away.

Not sure if your budget will fit but get the Metro.Fi 170 or 220 (170 is too cheap I think, 220 is a better fit for your price range) now these are *real* bass monsters and are perfect for hip hop, drum and bass, trance and house.

Another great option is VModa Vibe or Vibe II, whichever is availbale. Metro.Fi has great punch thumping bass but is a bit bright with crisp treble, this is good for drum and bass but if you want something more relaxed and warm the Vibes are the way to go.

The only other IEMs I would recommend for bass are the Monster Turbines, the Klipsch X10s or the Senn IE8. Senn is out of your price range, as is the X10, I am not sure about the Turbines.

How about a modded sony ex85 with sony hybrid tips. It costs less than your budget and will not dissapoint you. Doesnt really distort at max vol while still sounding good
