NOW FOR NEW PHOTOS!

Front - volume knob top, selector for USB, Digital, or Analog. USB selects the 24/96 USB input. Digital will select the RCA coax as default unless a 3.5mm optical cable is plugged in then that over-rides the RCA coax. Analog will select the RCA input as default unless a 3.5mm analog connector is plugged in, then it will use that. These were choices made in order to keep costs down. I am using the USB for Macbook, Coax for Marantz CD5001, and an iMod Vcap dock into the RCA analog inputs.

Sweet, I think it's my next purchase.

It's interesting how they put different RCA jack brands/types for the outputs vs the inputs. Is one superior to the other? I recognize those jacks on the analog out as the same ones on my XP-7.

No, I can't say yet, until they decide to release the info themselves. They have to make deals to get companies to OEM the chips for them, and the suppliers don't want to blow other deals they have. All the ICs are custom supplied to Nuforce and marked NU on them, so you wont be able to tell by opening the HDP (I already asked back on 2/4/10).

Since the primary function was as a DAC, Nuforce wanted the best RCA parts for the outputs. They look like Vampire RCA jacks, but I can't be sure. But, because HDP is built on a tight budget, not everything could be high-end, or else you'd have a CDP-8 at around $1500 (hence the less costly PC board mounted input RCA). The attenuator is also very nice quality.

$499 CDN

From Amazon it would be about $479 CDN from $449USD after converison so I guess the extra cost is the importing cost

*grumble*stupidimportingfees*grumble* and then we get to pay 12% tax on top.

Yes. We want it to be "perfect". Larry found a minor issue on the pilot unit so we hold the production for 3 days to get it fixed. I think we beat this HDP to death by now.
They are confirmed to ship out on 2/10 from factory so we will start to enable order taking on 2/11. Unfortunately I think the small shipment that we manage to get out (before factory close for a week for Chinese New Year holidays in Taiwan) will be sold out very quickly. Well, at least we will have some available for people to post feedback.

I don't think Amazon.com will ship up here. There's amazon.ca, but it sucks.

Amazon.com ships some items to Canada and will ship the HDP to canada for sure. That's how some canadians bought the uDac. The method Nuforce uses to ship to Canada is USPS Global Priority so there's a good chance custom fees are avoidable. There will be no duty fees since it's USPS and not UPS or Fedex

I wasnt prepared to wait - Larry makes no secret of his admiration for the D4 and there are plenty who have agreed with him from day one. So far, I like the fact that it sounds good straight from the box - that seems to be a rarity for a DAC/amp.
