Hi all,
I love my SR80s but the bowls are KILLING my ears, so I'm looking for something more comfortable. I came across these black HD414 pads on eBay. Can anyone confirm that these are the same as the yellow pads (except of course for the color)? All other things being equal, I'd rather have the black ones anyway.

Thanks!

Those don't look like the yellows at all. The picture looks like its a generic pleather over a nylon sheet. I'm not sure if that will fit a grado.

Best case scenario is you can try grado flats or purchase some black dye.

Thanks guys. I just checked eBay again and only found one pair of the yellows for $10 (plus $20 shipping, What!?).

I just realized Senn sells them directly for under $5, so I guess I'll be dye-ing.

Thanks!

EDIT: Actually, does anyone know if these can still be ordered through SennheiserUSA? The direct link (found on these boards from a post several years old) looks like it works, but if I just try to search for them in the store, they don't show up.

Just to let you know that bhphotovideo.com in New York still carries these at a price of $4.50 USD and $4.45 UPS staandard shipping. Unfortuneately they are out of stock right now, but from past experience they receive items from Sennheiser fairly quickly. You could order now or check back maybe next week to see if they have them in stock. You can look them up under their wesite under headphones-then under ear tips and cushions. For this price I would probably order two pair, IMHO they are much better than anything Grado makes for the SR-80, actually ordered these last year for my wife's SR-60 and she loves them. Happy Listening.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on BH (I'd rather go through them anyway since I've ordered from them many times). In the meantime, I'm gonna try the shampoo and water soak method on my bowls a couple times to see if they improve.

I had to buy a few pairs of the pads from my HD414, and I notice that when BH has them in stock, Sennheiser backorders them (which just happened to me...). So be sure to check both sources, because it's going to cost you the same in shipping regardless.
