What you are saying is not correct Nat. Read the impressions from the Orange county meet, in California. You might, for a change, enjoy them, lol.

The point was, Ray, that unl3a5h3d hadn't heard anything he was recommending which serve no one. And I'm not quite sure what you mean by the second half of your comment, why wouldn't I normally enjoy meet impressions?

You said "an amp that no one outside of RSA has really heard yet"
You were incorrect, as I am sure you did read the impressions from Orange county meet.

From what I am told, if it has the typical RSA house sound, I am willing to bet it will be a very nice amp. Ray's work seems to be very well appreciated around here.

Again, my point was this guy hadn't heard any of the 3 things he was recommending, I could care less what it was that he was recommending. I have no doubt the Protector sounds every bit as good as your other amps, I just prefer my user impressions and recommendations to come from actual users. Can we let that go now?

Two things. One, I understood what you wrote exactly the way Ray did, what you MEANT to say and what you said were two different things, you said that "no one outside of RSA has heard" vs. wanting to say that the OP has not heard.

Secondly, to get back on track, I have had the predator and the shadow, and per skylab he feels that shadow and the P-51 were similar enough that he did not want to review the latter. The shadow works FANTASTICALLY with the JH13 and a number of posters have stated such. An the form factor is so small it is amazing. The balanced amp "Protector" has gotten great impressions from the Orange County meet as Ray said, so i bet many people will buy that and you may see more Shadows and P-51s on the FS forum. Good luck.

Same here I had to do a triple take and I had actually begun to question whether all the impressions I've been reading had come from RSA company insiders...

I have both the Tomahawk and the Shadow. I listened to both side by side and found the Tomahawk to be good but the Shadow was faster and more detailed. And it's size just can't be beat. It's almost too small. I've been a big RSA fan since the godd Dr. Xin checked out on us and leaving most of holding our hands out for refunds and nothing to show for it. Someone should get his website shut down so as to not rip anyone else off. I have the JH13pros and Shadow work just fine for me. I can't imagine using anything else.

Excuse my ignorance, but can someone please explain exactly what a Balanced Amp is supposed to do and why it is better?

Also, I am getting the impression from the statement in an earlier post that re-wiring is required on the Headphone/IEM, for something like the UE-11/18 or JH13/16 would that require these things to be opened up and re-wired??

Again, I just don’t have enough knowledge about this so I am asking the questions.

Had the Mustang but just didn't like it's footprint. WAAAAY too small to lash on to my iPod. Shadow supposedly even smaller. But that said, the Mustang is a glorious amp with a great soundstage and can accomodate all IEMs and most full-size phones.

This is probablythe one I'd recommend if you don't need the DAC--which I don't. Need the DAC, then Predator.

You really cxan call Ray, you know. He's one of the few here who take phone calls and is very patient and explanatory about all his amps.

I still lov the Hornet. Yeah it doesn't have built-in battery, USB connection and all that other newer stuff; but if you're just looking for a portable amp,Hornet is very hard to beat.

Some headphones need to be physically re-cabled to work in a balanced fashion, but the IEMs you mention have detachable cables, which means you can just connect the balanced cable and be ready to rock.
