Just got myself a 3G 64GB Ipod touch and I'm using it with the standard triple-fi's. All is well, except for one issue; the ability to move to another song without having to turn the screen on. Volume up and down is no problem because of the side buttons, but skipping tracks is a hassle. Heard you can double click on the Triple-fi vi mic wire and that will allow you to skip a song, so my question is if I purchase the vi wire for my standard triple-fi's, will it allow me to skip songs through the ipod touch using the vi wire?

Anyone know where I can get the best deal on the VI wires in stock?

........

Searching is your friend. Looks like it can be done by the replacement vi wires and it will work with the touch, but UE doesn't have them in stock.

I'm in the same situation as the OP, however when you take into account shipping (from Amazon, 19+5) you're pretty much within 5 bucks of hitting the price of the vi cable anyways. Would the E1 noticeably improve the SQ at all when it comes to the trips?

Yes you will be able to skip thru songs. I have a 32GB iPod Touch & iPhone and I think it is press the button twice to "next" and 3 times to "previous". I use it with Skype VOIP to make and recieve calls also so the mic will come in handy if you use VOIP with ipod touch or regular calls with iPhone.

Thanks Negakinu and everyone else that commented.

Went with a black fiio E1 as a temporary solution to my screen always on 'skip track' problem on the touch and as soon as UE get some VI wires in, I'll purchase them as well.

Another note, the vi cable is significantly thinner than the normal Pro cable.

Thanks for that. I'll just place an order through the UE website and see if they actually have them in stock. If not, I can wait.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Well, it's not a good thing, but not necissarily a bad thing. Thinner wire could break sooner, that's all.
Also, if you're jailbroken, try the PocketTouch app. Great for that use.

Got my black Fiio E1 for the touch to solve my problem with trying to skip tracks while the screen is off and you know what, I'm pretty impressed with the sound coming out of the amp. I'm not talking high end here, but any improvement in sound on the touch is appreciated and there's definitely a few notches of improvement with clarity and soundstage coming out of the triple-fi's using them with the E1. Only downside; way too much cable length when you add both the triple-fi and E1 wires together and also when I unplug the E1 from the LOD, I lose the external speaker on the touch until I do a reboot. Other than that, a solid buy for solving my initial problem and a bonus for getting impressive sound to cost improvement from the amp.

Hate to say I told you so.

You can always buy a cablewrapper (fishbone?) to shorten the E1. I didn't know about the rebooting though. Do you still feel the need to get the VI cable?
