The old thread had 1000+ posts and a large portion was speculation, so I thought I'd start a new thread for owners of IEMs reshelled by InEarZ to post pics and impressions. I hope to get my custom TF10 in next week and I will edit this post when they arrive.

So, InEarZ owners: post your pics and thoughts! Nothing to huge unless it's thumbnailed please!

Let's try to keep this thread on track and stick to pictures and impressions about the customs. I know this will be hard but I hope we can!

Edit 1/13: Kaysen sent me some pics and they should arrive on Friday, hopefully! I will post more when I get them.

Edit 2/3: I got mine on 1/15. The looked nice but there was a fit issue in the right monitor. I sent it back a week later for a rebuild, and also picked a different faceplate and art color. It should be here on 2/5 if they ship today.

Edit 2/8: I got the refits on Friday 2/5 and they're great. The bass is back (and huge) in both monitors, and the fit is solid as well. They fixed an issue with my faceplates (I ordered solid blue, but they gave me a translucent blue with a matte finish instead on the first build). I asked them to change my art to gold but it looks like they forgot about that one. I'm very satisfied and have had great customer service with Fisher. As long as the shells don't crack or anything, I wouldn't hesitate to get future reshells done with them.

Photos first, sound next. UPS has "in transit" but has Jan. 11 as delivery date. So a little confused. Usually it says "out for delivery" when a UPS package is coming that day. We will see if it's today or tomorrow.

Update:
So far, seems to me the ES cable is the winner (over the Fisher cable), as the sound sig is somewhat more airy, but not that different than the stock TF10 sound. Of course, the ES cable cost twice the Fisher cable ($40 vs. $20).

I do feel the bass is a little more recessed with the custom tips over the Sony Hybrids tips I use with the stock pair I still have. Could be the cable, but no way to tell because the new socket does not allow me to use the OEM cable any more (the pins are too small, and the sound cuts in and out due to the loose fit). Also might be the custom in-ear depth, not sure.

All in all, very happy with the move and would do it again. Also glad I have two pair, because there may be times I need the stock pair as well. As far as isolation, the customs don't isolate as much as I would have thought. For one, I sent Fisher a pair of old custom sleeves I had made by FutureSonics, not new impressions. They scanned the custom sleeves to make my pair, and it worked very well because I knew the fit would be right (new impressions are not always on the money, which I sort of found out with my UM56s).

Now, with my new pair of Westone 2s on the way (bought them used here), I will be set with two excellent pair of IEMs both at $200 or so.

Anyway, no extensive reviews of the TF10 custom sound, because as I noted, it's pretty much close to the stock sound, which is fine with me. And the Sony X EQ also can help with these phones, of course. Out of the Zune80, no EQ, they sound excellent and same with the Clip+ and flac tracks. Not using them with the Amp3s due to hiss issues.

1/5 Update:
First pictures from Kaysen of my new TF10s! I'm loving how the colors turned out

Colors are dark translucent blue and dark translucent black. The black almost looks metallic, but I'm sure that's just the glare.

Changed my shipping to overnight so I'll have them tomorrow and will be able to post initial impressions tomorrow night.

1/6 Update:
These were waiting for me when I got home this afternoon. Had to let them sit for a while because it's 20 degrees outside. Wanted them to at least warm up a little bit before listening.

Fit is perfect by twisting when inserting into my ears. During my impressions I had my mouth open so the seal is still there when I move around.

What I love about these already is picking up the little intricacies in my music. I listen to a lot of acoustic and live songs and not only hear, but also feel sounds throughout the music. Bass is plentiful, but doesn't cover up the higher end.

I'll take more time tonight and tomorrow enjoying these and post more impressions. Wanted to thank Fisher Hearing and Kaysen for their fast customer service and hard work. I love 'em!

I spoke to kaysen today and boy, those guys are busy! Talk about the power of the internet. I am trying to get my impression taken as soon as possible. The only audiologist I could find in Rockville, MD is not answering his phone. Maybe he/she is on vacation.. Can't wait to get mine done. Owners, please post pictures of your custom work by Fisher.

In the end, now that Ive had them a while Id have to say the SQ is basically the same as before. Little to no change at all. Kept them single bore with stock filter.

EDIT: I asked for Transparent Black, but they are more of a grey with light on them. But if you ask for transparent black this is what you should end up with. You could always ask for something darker but mine are there stock shade.

I'd rather them keep the same SQ rather than change it. How about isolation?

Shure E500 made into customs by Fisher. Sound signature appears to be the same as before but increased isolation from outside noise. Mine are clear with a hint of blue, no custom graphics, finish is excellent and no bubbles to be seen. I selected the Fisher clear cable. My only comment on the cable seems that they have a memory of how it was coiled from before and don't really drop straight down to my player. I would prefer a slightly more flexible cable or one that I can easily straighten out by rebending.

Fit seems fine. I think it is more getting used to something firm in the ear canal that is causing some annoyance/pain in my left ear. Insertion is easy with the rotate back method but I'm still finding that it hurts my left ear when I remove the IEMs which may be what's causing the discomfort. At this point I will wear them and see if I'll get used to the feel of them.

Read the OP's note, please.

What the heck, I'll be a bad seed and reserve myself a spot as well.

My girlfriend and I both got our impressions done yesterday. (woo, only $15 per pair!) I plan to call Kaysen probably tomorrow with a few more questions, and have both our TF10s shipped out by the end of the week.

I'll edit this post with pictures (of both pair) once they come back.

I'm excited!

----Editing 02/01/10

Okay, let's see if I can figure out how to post pictures....

I think that did it! And here's a link to my post in the other thread with a minor write up:

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/i...ml#post6367274

As you can see, there are two larger dust particles in the faceplate of the blue one. Not a big deal though. And that one fits GREAT.

The right looks perfect, but the fit so far seems a little off. I'll give it a few more days though, to be sure it's not just a matter of my insertion methods, etc. I've already improved things a bit by twisting the right one around a bit more after I think I've got it in.
