Hi to everyone. I'm very new to all of this so Im trying to get any help I can.
Anyways, Im planning on getting the hd600, and Ive heard from many different places that you need atleast a decent amp to get these to sound good. Also, I've heard that portable amps really dont do these headphones justice (I was originally looking at the pico). Has anyone had any experience with the headroom micro with hd600's?? My budget for an amp is about $300-$400. Any other suggestions on some good amps that will drive the hd600s pretty good in that price range? Thanks

i dont know about the headroom micro but my headroom ultra micro amp does an excellent job with my grados and senns. I've had nothing but good experiences with this amp and it's pretty crazy how a small dinky thing like this can output such good power.

HD650 sounds excellent with the MicroAmp (I've got a 2006 Desktop module version), and I'm quite sure the same would be true with the HD600.

So it sounds like the MicroAmp is a pretty good fit with the hd600 without having to break the bank. It asks to choose between 120vac and 220vac voltage. what is the difference between the two?

120v voltage is for use in North America and 220v voltage is for use in most European countries

I think that the best word to describe the headroom sound is "power".
the tiny micro amps are very powerfull and dynamic and can't drive pretty much any dynamic (and probably not only) headphone with ease and authoroty. no matter what headphone I use, I never go past 9 oclock on the volume knob...and that's very loud. the ultra version is very recommended with the astrodyne PSU for getting the best out of it.

Looks like I'm probably going to pick up a micro then. Anyone tried the 600/650 with a pico?

The Pico has nice synergy with the HD600, but the 3MOVE and the Micro Amp seem to have more power than the Pico (especially when plugged into the wall).
