Dear fellow head-fiers,

Since I joined the great head-fi community in April 2009, my previous experience of so-called "high-fidelity" came from Sennheiser CX300, Koss PortaPro and KC75, Etymotics ER6i, Shure E4C, Sennheiser HD280, and I was modestly content.

By chance I saw a retro looking headphone that I've never seen or heard before by the name of Grado, and my can buying/selling fiesta started with vengeance. Over that last nine months I have owned and sold all the Grado Prestige series (including the "i" series), and reference series (RS2, RS2i, RS1i), as well as the Alessandro counterparts. Rave reviews of the Sennheiser HD600 and HD650 lighten my wallet along with the taste for the Ultrasones 780, ATH-ESW9, and the Denon AH-D1001 (x2), AH-D2000, AH-D5000, all which has since been sold. Included in the buying/selling list were IEM that started with the PFE, which I've owned twice, Sennheiser IE8, Monster Turbines, all the YUIN PK series (1-3), and Victor FX500. I even gave Stax a try with the SR001, and an oddity can called Zebrawood to boot.

Of course there was the amp craze. I've owned the Mini3 (x2), Millet Starving Student PCB, Decware Zen Head ZH-1, XENOS 1HA-EPC, Corda 2Move, biosciencegeek cmoy, PA2V2(x2), Head-Direct EF1 (x2), ABL HB1, and Millet Starving Student P2P.

Providing music to the set of cans and amps was a 5th Gen Ipod, which I seriously thought of imodding after reading the reviews.

As you can see, I stayed in the low to middle range for all my high fidelity arsenal. I wish I had more disposable income and less attentive wife to my purchases and try the cream of the crops (HD800, PS1000, D7000, Edition8..etc).

I know there are those who say, "yeah right, see you soon", or "I've heard this before", but in all honesty with myself, I've decided to part from the buying/selling craze that has been depleting what savings I have, and like many members often bought on credit. If you can believe it, I even repurchased models that I missed after selling them here on the for sale forums.

I'll end my post with the fact I'm very content walking away from head-fi for a while with my Phonak PFE (new version), modded Amp3, woodified MS1i, Millet Starving Student PCB, and the Sony D-5 CD player. It was a lot of fun, but my other hobbies and priorities need attention at the moment.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Regards,

David

Good new year's resolution there! I hope you can live it up. Best of luck. I'm assuming you won't be reading this if this happens to be your last post.

Good decision. Stick to it, and you'll be happy. My advice: remove this site from your bookmarks, and don't come back here. Just forget about this site, and leave. I'm serious.

I decided almost a year ago to never upgrade anything else on my main system. I've stuck to that so far, and couldn't be more content with with what I have.

Now... if I can just get to that point with my portable system... lol... Once that is achieved, however, I'll be taking my own advice and not coming back here. It's too risky, and I've given back what I believe I have to give to the community, so I don't feel that I'm "dining and dashing".

Once you're out, get out... and enjoy your system.

You should probably define a time frame... "A while" won't help you stick to it. You need it if you ever see my words.

Sorry to see you leave. You know it's OK to stick around and not buy anything, don't you?

After a couple years of accelerating purchases, I've knocked it off for the last six months. Except for DIY parts. But those have only been a few hundred as opposed to kilobucks.

Even though I'm happy with my rig, this is a nice place to hang out. Why don't you stick around to help some noobs and go to meets? You'll get to have fun while keeping a healthy bankroll.
