Hello friends,

I would really like to purchase some nice headphones for Christmas this year. I'm currently using Sennheiser CX300's for my laptop, and I have Yuin PK3s that I listen to on my Sansa Clip+. My question is this: Should I get the RE2 or should I shell out a little bit extra and get the RE0 for 79$? Would I need an amp for either with the Sansa Clip+? Is there a better option in the 40-80$ price range that I'm overlooking? I listen to a variety of music (Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Lady Gaga, Justice, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Black Keys, Kings of Leon) but I mostly listen to Rock.

RE0 blows the RE2 away. It's easily twice as good if not more. It sounds perfectly fine straight out of Sansa Clip and works well for all types of music. There is nothing else in that price range that sounds better than RE0.

The RE0 handles fine out of a Clip. I do need to use the bass boost on my E5 to give back some of the bass presence that's lost when I'm on a bus. Otherwise, it really is a nice earphone for the price.

I see you previously owned Sennheiser CX300s, how would you compare the RE0 to them? Totally blows them out of the water or what? The CX300 is probably the best I've heard thus far (in an earphone. I might rank the PK3s higher but my pair has imbalanced sound)

Yes, go with RE0. I just had a moment of weakness and accidentally bought a pair...could not resist $84 shipped.

cx300 shouldnt even be in the same room as a RE0. the only thing the cx300 has on RE0 is if you love a ridiculous amount of muddy bass.

Pretty much this. The mids are muffled, highs aren't really present.

I would readily compare my RE0 to any of my full-sized headphones. And you don't usually get to that kind of level until you hit $200+, right?
