0%... and 80% is way too high? Holy crap =/

With the Sansa Clip and Shure E2G, I am usually up to 85% or so. 90% or higher with some non-IEM earbuds.

And with the NU Dolphin (underwater mp3) while I swim, it's usually at full blast.

Maybe it's because I've never had any really high end earphones, we'll see when I get the TripleFis on Monday. Could also be because the Clip is a very very tiny mp3 player.

When I use the Fuze I don't have to go above 65%-70%.

Never have any pain or ringing though.

OP, pain sounds pretty serious, you ever think about just using headphones? Or maybe non-iem earphones.

Tinnitus is only temporary until it becomes permanent.

What? It can actually pass by itself, get treated, or it could be a medical issue like water or wax in your mid-ear.

^ Yes, there are many causes of tinnitus but excessive exposure to loud noise is the most common. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to suggest that the OP's experience is most likely due to listening to music extremely loudly through IEMs. If the OP continues to do this he/she will run the very real risk of developing permanent tinnitus and hearing loss.

yeah 85% is insane, even if you are not getting a good seal, the sound is still going inside and doing damage. sometimes i'm guilty of pumping the volume briefly too, but I have only experienced ringing one or 2 times since I was in my teens (bass bins ahoy!!)

also, if you are having problems getting a seal with westone IEMs, some of the easiest IEMs to get a seal with, you are going to need some serious luck to get a seal with triple-fi, they are simply the most uncomfortable and huge IEMs i've ever owned. I could only stand them for a couple of weeks, I also got fatigue from the highs. good luck with that; and....turn it down for christ sake and never get an amp

it was the tips for me. with the RE0 when I used stock tips they would hurt after a while but I started using olives and they are fine. I also have the S4 but I have only used them for an entire day once and there was no issues there so they probably wont be any issue.
