They are just SMA connectors but they give me the option to anything I want with cables.

The white one is a very old HD600. My first high end headphone. The HD600 is the headphone that started me with re-cabling and connectors because of the poor design of the factory connectors.

Edit: If you mean the one in the top picture than yes CD3000 with home made leather pads.

Just two halves of leather sewn together with spandex on the outer rim to hold it in place.

so you cannibalized the foam donuts from some beat-up pads? then sew some leather on top to that white LYCRA fabric?

what do they look like on the inside? you sewed them by hand? I guess not.

is that a fact? i didn't know that sony had unreliable cables... in fact, my cd380 survived far longer than any other wire i had. how many people needed a recable?

Thanks you for the remarks but I'll pass on that. Far too much on my plate. Been trying to put together another simple project like a balanced cmoy and its two weeks now and I'm still not done.

It's just the "Y" splitter on the SA5000 that has some kind of defect. Lots of complaints although I never had any trouble with mine. I put it on a D1001 that I gave my sister for TV use because of it's ridiculous length. Still working fine.

But anyway it's only the y split then perhaps i'll tape it beforehand.

The reason its a problem is because Sony was to tight to run a four core cable.
The Y splitter actually covers where Sony joined the single negative to one for each cup, with usage the cables tend to pull out of the splitter just enough to cause breakage in the wire, and believe me the wire that they used is small.
